For Jody Berg, volunteering is more than an activity done once or twice a year. In fact, Berg has integrated volunteering into all facets of her life, including at Media Works, her digital marketing company.
Berg has long recognized the importance of giving back and feels fortunate she is in the position to help others, something she instills in her employees. At her agency, employees regularly get together for volunteer projects.
“I think it’s an amazing life lesson, as well as it gives us a chance outside of work to get to know each other in a different light,” she said. “The relationships and the bond that we build here is stronger doing those things.”
This past year, Berg and Media Works kicked it up a notch, celebrating their 25th anniversary year by participating in 25 acts of kindess. Employees participated in fundraising walks, coat drives, nature cleanups, made dinner at the Hackerman Patz House and more.
Dinner at Hackerman has been a consistent favorite volunteer activity among Media Works employees.
We’ve gotten to know some of the people [there] because they have to come back time after time,” she said. “I was with a couple last month and they were there for their daughter’s 12th surgery, and it’s endless how many people need your help.”
Media Works also does a lot of work with Show Your Soft Side, which runs anti-animal abuse campaigns, and routinely adopts a couple of families to provide gifts to at the holidays.
Berg and her employees keep a calendar of scheduled service activities and pick which ones they would like to attend.
This past year, Media Works put a big focus on supporting Karma for Cara. They made a contribution as part of the 25th anniversary celebration, where Karma for Cara was featured, and purchased Lema J earbud tacos embossed with the Media Works logo for each of their clients.
Thank you Jody for all of your support, and for showing us the power of making service to others an important part of our personal and professional lives!
