Founded in Baltimore in 1985, Living Classrooms is an educational and economic force that combines one of the city’s most cherished assets – its beautiful and historic harbor – with some of its most overlooked – the thousands of bright, ambitious children and young adults who are struggling to succeed against terrible odds. Living Classrooms oversees dozens of programs across a region that encompasses Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
Living Classrooms’ Inspired to Serve program for students was established in honor & memory of Cara Becker, one of the non-profit’s dedicated interns. Engaging students in service projects and long-term volunteer efforts, Inspired to Serve provides summer and school-year internships as well as multi-site and one-time event volunteer opportunities. Learn more about Inspired to Serve opportunities here.
An additional component of the Inspired to Serve program for students, our Karma for Cara Microgrant Program is managed and overseen by Living Classrooms. For all questions about K4C Microgrants beyond what is available on this website, please email microgrants@karmaforcara.org.
