Last month, two wonderful women, Liz Dannenberg and Lucy Hess, hosted a fundraiser for Karma for Cara at Chicago’s Athleta on Oak Street. Liz, a leukemia survivor, wanted to raise money to give back to those also affected by cancer. All of the proceeds from that event have been directed to our cancer patient care and comfort programs.
Last week we received the news that Liz’s cancer has returned. She now needs a bone marrow transplant and is looking for a match. Her ideal match is 38 or younger of German, Irish or English ethnicity–ideally someone born in one of those countries. She needs the match in the next 30 days.
Can you help? If you fit the bill, all you need to do is go to your doctor and ask for a blood sample to be sent to Prentice Hospital, part of Northwestern Medicine. Email Lucy at Hessfit@me.com for more information. And please spread the word. Please help us find a match for someone who has been such an inspiration and done so much for Karma for Cara!
