Because of our donors’ unwavering & generous support, Karma for Cara has been able to carry out Cara’s legacy through empowering youth to repair our world, celebrating unsung heroes, and supporting families struggling with pediatric cancer!

As a community, let’s reflect on the amazing impact we have accomplished together in 2024:
More than 180 remarkable youth applied to the Karma for Cara Microgrant Program. Their passion for service shone brightly, and we had the privilege of supporting an impressive 84 youth-led initiatives. These young leaders’ commitment & innovative spirit inspire us every day!
As a founding funder & partner of Horizon Day Camp-Baltimore, we donated $20,000 in 2024 to support their initiatives. Horizon offers a full-day summer camp to young cancer patients & their siblings–free of charge! As a member of the Sunrise Association, Horizon also provides year-round programming and in-hospital recreational activities at no cost to families. Thanks to our support, this year Horizon Day Camp welcomed 190 Maryland children to their summer camp and interacted with more than 2,500 children through their in-hospital visits, virtual programs, and Horizon on Wheels program.
Last, but certainly not least, we’ve recognized unsung heroes—frontline workers. This year, we were honored to present the Excellence in Nursing Award to Simone Solo at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida. We created the award to honor and recognize the love, support, and compassion nurses like Solo provide their patients every day.

KARMA FOR CARA FOUNDATION’S IMPACT TO DATE
Since 2014 we’ve successfully funded over 420 projects with $338,756 in Youth Microgrants across 42 states! Our youth are hard at work. Every project begins with a youth-generated idea about how to give back to their communities, big or small.
We’ve chosen to honor important unsung heroes with the Excellence in Nursing Award. Nurses play a vital role in caring for patients. Since 2013, we have presented this award to nine nurses, totaling $35,000 in funding combined with heartfelt appreciation.
Since 2016, we have proudly partnered with Horizon Day Camp-Baltimore to bring joy to children with cancer and their siblings. Together, we have supported Horizon’s in-person day camps, as well as virtual and hospital programs, contributing a total of $120,000 to date.
