In April, Kennedy Krieger Institute held its annual ROAR for Autism event, and presented the second Cara Becker ROAR for Autism Youth Fundraising Award.

The winner’s name this year might sound familiar. That’s because winner Natalie Newman was also the award recipient last year!

The award recognizes the individual 18 or younger who raised the most funds for the event and best encompassed Cara’s fundraising spirit. Natalie and her team, Natalie’s Never Land, again proved to be fundraising all stars….

Teamwork— When volunteering, kids learn to work together. Any service project has a discernable goal, and volunteers must find ways to work together to accomplish it.

Baltimore-based Karma for Cara Foundation is announcing expedited microgrant funds available for youth-led service projects in the Baltimore area. Karma for Cara was founded by 21-year-old Cara Becker and her family—Baltimore natives with deep roots in the city.

With the recent events in Baltimore, Karma for Cara wants to ensure that young people in the Baltimore area who are working on programs to help clean up and bring together the city will be given funding request responses within 48 hours….

For Jody Berg, volunteering is more than an activity done once or twice a year. In fact, Berg has integrated volunteering into all facets of her life, including at Media Works, her digital marketing company.

Berg has long recognized the importance of giving back and feels fortunate she is in the position to help others, something she instills in her employees. At her agency, employees regularly get together for volunteer projects.

“I think it’s an amazing life lesson, as well as it gives us a chance outside of work to get to know each other in a different light,” she said….
