Excellence in Nursing Award
In 2013, Karma for Cara presented the first Excellence in Nursing Award to Cat Henderson of the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital. While Cara was in treatment, she and her family saw first-hand how nurses act as the unsung heroes to many patients.
Since then, we have expanded our Nursing Award program. In October 2014, we honored Norrie Rabinowitz-Hirsch of the Kimmel Cancer Center at John Hopkins Hospital with the Excellence in Nursing Award.
In January 2015, Karma for Cara presented Excellence in Nursing Awards to Harold Hardinger and Sue Ramzy of Shock Trauma at University of Maryland Medical Center.
Karma for Cara applauds the love, support and compassion nurses give, and the sacrifices they make on behalf of their patients.
Please CONTACT US if you know a nurse you would like to recognize or if you would like to expand our nurse recognition program to your hospital.
Cara Becker ROAR for Autism Youth Fundraising Award
Cara was an avid volunteer with many organizations. Cara was especially active in the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s ROAR for Autism. She raised money for the annual event, as well as spent many hours selling raffle tickets.
In honor of Cara’s tireless efforts with ROAR for Autism, the event’s organizers created the Cara Becker ROAR for Autism Youth Fundraising Award. The award recognizes the child or teen who raises the most money for the event each year.
