Eric Becker – Eric is Cara Becker’s father and a co-founder and President of the Board of Karma for Cara. Eric co-founded Sterling Partners, a private equity firm, in 1983. Eric has also been involved in community groups such as Living Classrooms Foundation, Port Discovery Children’s Museum, Chicago Ideas Week and Business Volunteers Unlimited.
Jill Becker – Jill is Cara Becker’s mother and a co-founder of Karma for Cara. In September 2013, Jill started Lema J with her sister, Jenny Benscher. Greg Becker – Greg Becker is Cara’s older brother. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. He has worked with companies and organizations focused on program creation, communications, research and fundraising. He currently works as the co-founder of Friendzy, which helps people meet and make new friends
Jake Becker – Jake Becker is Cara’s younger brother. He is a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Scientific Entrepreneurship. While at school, he is involved in the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and UNC Squash.
Abby Weinstein – As our programming and development intern, Abby works on coordinating and implementing youth volunteer programs. She has been with Karma for Cara since summer 2012 and has enjoyed watching the foundation grow. Abby graduated from Indiana University in May 2014 with a degree in Psychology and Spanish and is currently pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology at Loyola University Chicago. firstname.lastname@example.org
Monica Rivella – As our Design Director since February 2014, Monica was essential in updating our visual identity by designing our new logo and website. Monica is an Italian Design Director based in Milan. She graduated from NABA – Milan’s New Academy of Fine Arts in Communication and Graphic Design, and held several executive positions in prominent communication and branding agencies focusing on the design and development of Below-the-Line materials, improving her technical know-how and her knowledge of the production process. During the summer of 2013, she decided to start a new adventure on her own, and she is a now a greatly appreciated and passionate freelance Design Director.
Steven Taslitz – Steven is the Chairman and co-founder of private equity firm Sterling Partners and has served in this capacity since 1983. In this role, he leads Sterling’s Operating Committee as Co-Chairman and serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Steven has served as Chairman of the io Board of Directors since December 2008. Other Sterling portfolio companies with which he works include: Laureate, Pingora, Conversant, and Livingston International. Steven has been active in a number of non-profit organizations and educational charities, including the Illinois Board of Higher Education, President of the Glencoe Educational Foundation and the Investment Committee of the Jewish United Fund.
Mats Lederhausen – Mats is an original member of the Karma for Cara Board of Directors. Mats has previously worked for The Boston Consulting Group, served as Managing Director of McDonald’s Ventures and founded business investment company BE-CAUSE. He is additionally on the board of the nonprofit Business for Social Responsibility and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
John Miller – John is the President and Chief Executive Officer of North American Corporation, a multi-divisional company specializing in industrial paper products, packaging, printing and other commercial consumables. He has served as President of North American Corporation since 1987. John is also a director of Atlantic Premium Brands, Ltd. Laureate Education Inc. and Sally Beauty Holdings.
